About Ed Austin

Since the 1970's Ed Austin has developed a reputation as one of the hardest working musicians at the Jersey Shore. With an extensive repertoire of songs from from the 50's through today, Ed can entertain audiences of all ages.

A multi-instrumentalist, Ed Austin started playing in bands in high school. After attending Glassboro State College he worked throughout the tri-state area, playing guitar and bass in several successful bands. On his off nights he would frequently perform around the Point Pleasant area as a solo singer/songwriter and became popular for his interactive approach with audiences.

As the entertainment business changed in the mid 1980's, Ed Austin became one of the first musicians in the area to embrace the new technology that would enable him to become a "One Man Band". Using professionally recorded background tracks, playing electric guitar and incorporating harmony vocals, Ed can produce the authentic sound of a full band.

Ed Austin is also a recording artist for Lucky Star Records and an award winning songwriter. Since 1999 he has released five CDs as a solo artist and recorded three benefit CDs with "Ed Austin and Friends". A respected arranger and recording engineer, Ed continues to produce demos and CDs for local musicians.

In addition, Ed Austin is well known in the area as a music instructor, teaching guitar, bass, piano, banjo, ukulele, harmonica, mandolin  and music theory. He maintains a full schedule of students at Clarizio Music Studios in Point Pleasant, NJ.

Ed Austin has achieved a milestone that few musicians will ever see. In 2011 he performed his 1,000th Gig at the Broadway Bar and Grill in PPB, NJ where he has played weekly since 1993! Many musicians would be happy to play 1,000 gigs in their entire career...and Ed has played that many in the same corner of his hometown bar. At last count, 1,066 gigs...

Since 2012, Ed (in his alter ego as Mr. Staunton) has taught Music at St. Peter School in Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ, where he also directs the Children's Choir, "The Singing Saints".

Ed Austin's motto is simple:
"Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life!"
